New Feed In Tariffs Rates Come Into Play

Big news folks, we have new feed in tariffs rates applicable for solar PV technology, effective as of 2 November 2012. This information was confirmed by Ofgem and you can see them at the end of the article.

The CEO of Freetricity made a strong point against the tri-monthly degression model enforced by the UK  Government, he stated that:
“With only around 1000 solar installs being done across the whole of the UK in the first three weeks of August  - two per installer company - and a solar industry on its knees,  a further digression of the FiT programme in November will just heap more misery on the green energy sector .
"This at a time when Government are wanting to promote the green deal, desperately need economic growth and job creation and are encouraging businesses like Freetricity to export our knowledge and expertise to new markets. In order to flourish, the industry needs German and American style tangible long term consistent support.”
If you take a look at the data you will see that the new rates for the residential FiT are insignificantly cut, just over half a pence, from  15.44p/kWh from 16p/kWh and the commercial Feed in Tariff was cut with a mere (almost) half a penny,  to 13.1p/kWh from 13.5p/kWh, meantime for the big businesses the tariffs remained unchanged.
But due to the rising costs of electricity in the recent months, even these small cuts in the Feed In Tariff may create a come back for investments on solar photovoltaic projects, at least that's what Dr. Chris Jardine, the Tech Director at Photovoltaic installer Joju Solar hopes:

“We’ve seen a 3.5% cut in feed-in-tariffs on residential and small commercial buildings. But at the same time, we’ve seeing electricity prices rise by as much as 10 per cent in October which more than outweighs the cut in feed-in-tariffs and makes the return on investment from solar projects higher than it was this time last month.”
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) revealed in October this year the quarterly energy statistics which shows that installations under the feed-in tariff (FiT) have reached 1.3GW across the UK, and the solar installed power under the FiT scheme in the first 9 months of 2012 reached 747.586MW .
